Last night I made the absolute best mulled wine. I had received a big bottle of wine as a Christmas gift and decided to put it to use. I used this recipe for inspiration but changed some of the ingredients and amounts. It took 20 minutes to make and I ended up with 3 500 ml servings.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 liter dry red wine
- 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2/3 cups orange juice
- peel of one clementine
- 1 cinnamon stick
- pinch of ground cinnamon
- 8 cloves
- 1.5 tsp nutmeg
- Small chunk of ginger
- I put all of the ingredients together except the wine. I added about 1/3 cups of wine in the first step. I then simmered over medium heat for 10 minutes, until it got a little thicker.
2. Next I added the rest of the wine and heated over low heat for another 10 minutes. I stirred it every few minutes.
3. Finished, I just strained it over three large mugs and garnished with the clementine.
