Making Mulled Wine

Last night I made the absolute best mulled wine. I had received a big bottle of wine as a Christmas gift and decided to put it to use. I used this recipe for inspiration but changed some of the ingredients and amounts. It took 20 minutes to make and I ended up with 3 500 ml servings. img_20170101_213840262

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 liter dry red wine
  • 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cups orange juice
  • peel of one clementine
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 8 cloves
  • 1.5 tsp nutmeg
  • Small chunk of ginger

  1. I put all of the ingredients together except the wine. I added about 1/3 cups of wine in the first step. I then simmered over medium heat for 10 minutes, until it got a little thicker.

2. Next I added the rest of the wine and heated over low heat for another 10 minutes. I stirred it every few minutes.

3. Finished, I just strained it over three large mugs and garnished with the clementine.
